The Heart A Day Reiki Music screensaver project

It’s great when holistic lifestyle artists come together to work on a project and the Heart A Day screensaver project was one such natural energy gathering.

Gretchen L (BA) is a talented traditionally trained artist who has adopted digital media to push the boundaries of her art.

Using a pressure sensitive art tablet she is able to draw and paint directly in to Adobe Photoshop, rather than having to paint and photograph, or draw and scan, to electronically distribute her talent.
By working in the digital domain, she can use all of the digital art tools that a pixel paint program like Photoshop provides.

Gretchen L is a holistic artist in that she has sensory powers. She even managed to paint a drawing which looked like me, without ever seeing a photograph or image of me, just from text emails of my character. It was quite disturbing actually

The screensaver project was born to reward Gretchen’s art fans and to help spread the word of her work.

It seemed like a great opportunity to involve sacred sound, so we asked master Reiki Music Composer Rin Syaka (ATA) to produce a suitable holistic soundscape to accompany the imagery.

Using a program developed by Peter Buick (of PeterBuick.com) Rin managed to take the seed of the words “Heart A Day” and turn it in to the rhythmic seed for the project. But as what was produced was a not a sacred rhythm, Rin added some cross beats to focus the energy back on path.

Co-Producer for this project, David Wraight programmed up the drum and cabassa parts so Rin could begin his sonic magic. Co-Producer Peter Buick went off to make tea and was amazed at the vibe when he returned. (The tea wasn’t too bad either. Well done Pete.)

Rin is an extraordinary Reiki Music composer in the way that he uses lively and complex material to produce a net Reiki effect, including peaceful and calming moods.

Rin is a strong advocate of avoiding anything which sends people to sleep, or sounds like lift music cheese. If there are ever any bongs, they are not in isolation and always work in harmony with additional sonic textures. “Most good holistic energy comes from the interaction of forces, not the single impulse of a lone drone” says Rin. “Kharma does not come from one hand clapping” he smirks.

Any one who does not think they like ambient or holistic music, should listen to Rin.

So Rin was delighted to produce a track for inclusion on the Heart A Day viral screensaver. But space and time is always at a premium. So the screensaver features an extracted version.
